Typewriters and Alcohol Round Two (First Typecast)

Here's the hyperlink (notice the differentiation) to Mark's post mentioned above.

Just wanted to go ahead and clarify something: I did type that note as I was starting my first pitcher, but I'm totally not an alcoholic. Just a college kid. That is all.

  1. Your burger probably was better but that's because yours was super awesome and mine was only awesome.

I know which typewriter that was...

    1. Haha of course you do, there's hardly any way I could surprise you since you've seen all my machines and are graciously holding on to half of them for me right now...

  2. A historic document!

I can't identify the typewriter you used for the typecast, but it does nice work.

    1. Indeed!

By the way, I was looking at machines on eBay and saw that there's an index machine like your MW (albeit not nearly as nice condition), main difference other than the condition is that yours has serial number 11733, the one for sale looks to have serial number 500... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Very-Early-Typewriter-1900s-Needs-Restoration-/370648710330?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item564c627cba

    2. Hmm, you don't see them too often in the US (more in Germany). But they're not kidding when they say it "needs restoration"! I wouldn't buy it.

  3. Yaaay! I'm not 'the new one' anymore! (I'm sorry; I just couldn't resist.)

Anyway, my grouchy old eyes had minor difficulties reading your typecast. I wouldn't want to throw off your groove, but it might be a little easier to read if it was half that size. Although everybody else doesn't seem to be having any trouble. Could just be me.

So I must ask, was it the Royal that lives at that fine establishment that typed your ticket?

    1. I apologize for that! It shows up a pretty good size on my screen, but my eyes are also relatively young (I'm quasi-recently 21). I've fixed my settings so it doesn't use the lightbox, which should make it a lot easier for you to read ;-)

It was not :) Unfortunately neither of the Royals that live in said establishment are readily and easily available, nor does either have a good ribbon. It's also not either of the machines we've talked about via email, so I'll leave you in the cold guessing!

  4. The more I read about this place, between yours and Mark's posts, the more I want to go there. I live kinda near Virginia, but nowhere near where you guys are at. Stinks...
Congrats on the first typecast! It only gets better from here on out...
